Kiln-dried, untreated whitewood PAR timber for internal use where a high quality finish is not an essential and the budget is a consideration or where aesthetics are not your number one priority.

However, many customers prefer this product as it is bland in colour, knots are less defined and lighter in weight, ideal for Stair Strings & Treads that will be covered or painted. Great in places that are not on show or highly visible, for example boxing in, shelfs and jobs that are not needed in traditional pine.

Also when you buy timber this wide is has a tendency to have hair line splits and shakes normal running up the centre the plank another reason that it is not always ideal to use as a show piece however many like this feature and sadly is the nature of the beast and can not be avoided.

Please be aware that timber is a natural product and is Hydroscopic meaning that it releases and takes in moisture through all stages of its life. this is normal and can affect the structure and look of the piece at any stage. Timber moves, bows and twists depending on the environment it is in and a few other factors. Here at North Kent Timber we are aware of this and try to keep it in the best environment for the product but sadly this still will happen.

Knots can be frustrating however all trees have branches and these are a natural feature to most lengths of Timber so unless stated in the description you will have on most occasions a number of knots per piece.
